I’m finally getting around to playing with Windows Server 2012. A friend of mine updated a domain using Server 2012 and PowerShell ISE. I thought that was very cool to see. So I spun up a Windows Server 2012 instance and decided to install Domain Services. Of course, the GUI is the biggest change which actually makes want to use PowerShell more often.
Server Manager took on a new look. To start the AD installation you clock on the top right on Manage and click on Add Roles and Features.
In the Selection installation type window select Role-based or feature-based installation. We’re adding the Active Directory to this single server.
In the Select destination server I will select the server I am on right now. It’s the only one on my list, named LAB-DC-01.
