640-554 CCNA Security – Scheduled

After much of the rinse and repeat of reading, reviewing, and labbing, I have finally scheduled my exam for 11/30/2012.

I started studying for the CCNA Security exam back on September 27, 2012. Sticking to a consistent schedule is key.

My studying was either done early in the morning or late in the evening. It was important for me to schedule my studies around my work and family time.

This really depends on your situation. It’s something to talk about with your significant other.

So far I’ve put it over 50 hours of studying and I feel confident. Not to say I won’t study between now and the exam, I still feel that I can improve my knowledge for the exam.

The resources I used to study:

  • CCNA Security 640-554 Official Certification Guide
  • CCNA Security Lab Guide
  • GNS3
  • ASA 5505, 1841 routers, 3550 switches
  • CBT Nuggets (I didn’t watch all the videos)
  • Evernote for notetaking

I used the practice exam that came with the book. It helped me work on my weakest areas.

One of my goals for passing the CCNA Security concentration is to extend my CCNA as it expires in February 2013.
